the Healers is a deconstructed reconstruction of a memory set in Rotterdam’s mid-1990s nightlife. The party scene is presented in a triptych: the thrills of the night, the location, the date. Layers which normally form a cinematographic entity by merging together are stripped bare and served separately. Eventually the
pre-process of making the film becomes the film itself.

Shot in then-recently developed suburb of Rotterdam, called «Nieuw Terbregge». The architecture is based on early American 19th century housing areas, with their typical frontporches and lawns. The film's aesthetics follow the quasi-nostalgical style and atmosphere that can be found in the themebased retro-architecture that was very popular in the Netherlands at the moment.
